Magnetic resonance imaging for initial diagnosis of sporadic Creutzfeldt Jakob disease - Case series and review

We also compared our cases with other larger studies and give a review of literature to confirm our observations. Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD) is a uniformly fatal neurodegenerative disorder caused by the accumulation of an abnormal form of the human prion protein in the brain. It typically presents as a rapidly progressive dementia (RPD). For a definitive diagnosis, brain biopsy or autopsy is required (definite CJD). Premortal diagnosed patients are called probable CJD according to the diagnostic criteria of Zerr et al. So this entity can be difficult to identify antemortem.

Nach Absolvierung des Medizinstudiums in Graz 2006 hat Dr. Robert Vollmann seine radiologische Ausbildung am Helios Universitätsklinikum Wuppertal in Deutschland begonnen. Nach einer Zwischenstation als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Gerichtliche Medizin in Graz sowie im Ludwig-Boltzmann-Institut für klinisch forensische Bildgebung, setzte er diese auf der Universitätsklinik für Radiologie der medizinischen Universität Graz fort. Währenddessen veröffentlichte Dr. Vollmann mehrere Artikel in diversen Fachzeitschriften als Erst- bzw. Coautor und hielt wissenschaftliche Vorträge im In- und Ausland. Eine Publikation wurde sogar 2011 mit dem Arthur-Schüller Preis der österreichischen Gesellschaft für Neuroradiologie ausgezeichnet. Seit November 2020 ist Dr. Vollmann Honorarprofessor der Universität Petre Andrei in Iasi. Derzeit arbeitet er als Radiologe im Diagnosticum Gersthof in Wien sowie auch im IBD Stockerau und der Röntgenordination in Hollabrunn.
