Why we Collect Data.
We collect and process data for the sake of providing our customers with the best possible shopping experience and optimizing the scope of our services in terms of order, delivery and payment.
Furthermore your data are collected to maintain your personal customer database and the contents connected with it.
To be able to offer the best available payment options to our customers, abuse of payment information must be prevented. That is why your data are used to check your credit-worthiness. The credit check does not include circulating data to any third parties.
 
The Data we Collect and Process.
Surfing our website without being logged in, no personal data are collected. A so-called session-cookie is stored which helps to identify information such as IP-address, time and duration of your visit, operating system, browser and page impressions.
In case you set up a customer account, we also collect the data that are necessary to identify you, such as your name, address, e-mail, the details of your payment method your customer number and the order information. Your order data is stored with your order history; at the same time you receive the order data by e-mail. Your order data and your previous orders can be viewed selecting the "Account" button.
 
Your Data and Third Parties.
We authorize other companies to perform tasks such as payment processing. These service providers (ccv allcash, Stadtsparkasse Muenchen) have access to personal data that are required to fulfill their services. They must not use this information for anything else. In Addition to that any service provider is committed to this privacy policy and the Federal Data Protection Act.
Moreover we can be forced to disclose your data due to legal provisions or legal procedures. Except for that we can also disclose your data in case of public interest, which is the case for detected abuse or credit card fraud.
 
How we Protect Your Data.
Where ever personal data are entered across all our websites, we use industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to encrypt your data. With SSL-encryption employed before being transmitted to our servers, your data are transformed in a way which makes it impossible for a third party to reconstruct them. Thus the confidentiality of your personal details and payment data required for transactions through the internet is ensured.
 
Use of Cookies.
We use so-called session cookies to operate our website. A session cookie is a small text file that is sent by the respective servers when you visit a website and is temporarily stored on your hard drive. This file as such contains a so-called session ID, with which various requests of your browser can be assigned to the common session. This allows your computer to be recognized when you return to our website. These cookies are deleted after you close your browser. When the cookie is activated, it is assigned an identification number and an assignment of your personal data to this identification number is not made. Your name, IP address or similar data that would allow the cookie to be assigned to you are not placed in the cookie.

This will limit the functionality of the website.
 
Website Optimization.
This website employs Google Analytics, a service for web analysis by Google Inc. Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies", text files that are stored on your computer and enable analyzing the way you use this website. The information about your using the website produced by the cookie are normally transmitted to a Google server in the US for storage. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP-address transmitted to a Google server in the US and modified there.

The IP-address transmitted within the scope of Google Analytics will not be combined with any other data by Google.

Many of the eBooks offered by ciando GmbH are encrypted with DRM-technology by Adobe Systems Inc. Using this protected contents an Adobe customer account (Adobe-ID) is required. This account must either be set up on Adobe's website or must be generated after installing "Adobe Digital Editions" (or an equivalent application). The customer data and consent required therefor fall to the sole responsibility of Adobe Systems Inc. ciando GmbH does not transmit any personal information to Adobe.
 
Questions about Privacy Protection / Objection to Data Usage
According to the Federal Data Protection Act you have a right to obtain information as to your stored data and a right to have these data corrected, blocked and deleted.
